In this Ashtanga Basics class, I will pick some poses from the first and second series of Ashtanga. All poses will be accessible for beginners up to advanced practitioners. Poses included from second series will be some moderate back openers and maybe an arm balance pose on the days we feel strong!
Modifications, or options, will be demonstrated for those who need to adjust the poses to fit their body. We will hold poses for five breaths and you are welcome to leave out vinyasas between poses or do a cat/cow pose instead.
I will demonstrate and talk you through everything. The idea is to leave class feeling refreshed…(rather than beaten into submission and crawling off the mat).
Please note, practice should be done on an empty stomach (no eating 2 hours prior), in a warm spot and without music. Tune in to your internal experience.
